Honoring Tulsa-area educators who use music, storytelling, and creativity to spark curiosity, connection, and change in their students.
Each year, the American Song Archives honors a Tulsa-area educator with the Troubadour Teacher of the Year award — recognizing teachers who bring knowledge, culture, and creativity into their classrooms and pass them on to the next generation.
The name fits. A troubadour travels from place to place, spreading knowledge, culture, and ideas through their art. Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan were both troubadours in exactly this sense, sharing a belief in music's power to ignite social consciousness, challenge injustice, and inspire transformative change. This award celebrates the educators who carry that same spirit into their work every day.
Nominations for the Troubadour Teacher of the Year aren't open at this time. Check back soon — we'll announce the next nomination period right here, along with everything you'll need to put forward a deserving educator. In the meantime, sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when it opens.
